War of Wits is a stimulating assortment of challenging situations bound together by the constraints of time, money and most importantly human resource. Teams of 5 will battle it out making decisions in tough situations. The event will constantly test the participants on their knowledge of HR, planning, decision making, and negotiation skills in a dynamic environment.

The situations include a case study requiring decisions on various HR aspects, a business quiz, a simulation exercise  and a collective bargaining situation.

XLRI being the premier B-School for Human Resources in the Asia-Pacific, War of Wits is being designed to be the best HR event of the region. The prize money is commensurate with the ambition of the event at Rs. 80,000 apart from goodies for the finalists.

General Rules:

• Each team should have 5 students from the same institute.

• Multiple teams from the same institute are allowed to participate.

• A student can be part of only one team.

• No changes are allowed in the team once formed.

• Only students of Full Time courses are allowed to participate

 Rules for Preliminary Round Case Study:  

• The entry document should not exceed 6 pages  including tables, diagrams etc.

• No additional supporting documents or appendices will be accepted

• Font Type: Arial 11 pt. 1.15 line spacing. One inch margin

• Each entry should have a cover page with the name of the institute, team name and names of team members with their e-mails and phone numbers. Indicate one member as the point of contact.

• The name or logo of the institute should not appear on any other part of the document

• The file should be named as: WOW_<institute name>_<team name>

• The subject line should be: WOW_<institute name>_<team name>

• All references should be duly mentioned as foot-notes. Plagiarism will lead to disqualification.

• Assumptions and justifications should be mentioned clearly

• Please follow the timelines

• The teams shortlisted for the final round may be required to present their case solution

• Total Prize Money: Rs. 80,000

• There will be no prize money for the preliminary round case, but the points will be carried forward to the overall score

• The final game will consist of a set of simulation exercises, the details of which will be told to the participants during the final round on XLRI campus

• Each exercise will carry its own prize money for the winner and the runners-up

• There will be cash awards for the overall winners and runners-up

• The overall winner can potentially earn Rs 50,000

• There are goodies for all the finalists.

Preliminary Round Results

The teams shortlisted for the second round are as follows. The shortlist is in no particular order, but the waitlist follows an order for upgradation (in case a shortlisted team is unable to participate). All the shortlisted teams are required to send a mail to warofwits.xlri@gmail.com confirming their participation in the final round by 2359 hours, 12^th January. The final round will be held at the XLRI campus during Ensemble 2008 (25^th and 26^th January). The waitlisted teams will be informed by 14^th January if they have been upgraded. XLRI thanks all the participants for an enthusiastic response.
