XLRI, the best pan Asia-pacific B-school for Human Resource Management, in association with Accenture presents ‘The Consult Conundrum’

A unique, real life -inspired, challenging game designed to test the consulting acumen of the participants. The participating teams will get a chance to test and hone their consulting skills. The teams will be pitted against each other in a client engagement simulation.

Participants will be challenged to think on the various aspects of problem identification, defining the problem and arriving at a solution, keeping in mind the client’s requirements and data access limitations. In other words, they will endeavor to partner with a client

Having been in the forefront of the consulting arena globally, Accenture brings to you an amazing opportunity to pick up valuable consulting skills from some of the best minds in consulting and prepare oneself for an exciting career ahead.

The game has been designed in three stages.

1st Stage- Preliminary round

A case study will be provided to the teams and the case analysis will have to be submitted by the teams. The case would require a methodical approach, feedback on which will be provided to the shortlisted teams.

2nd Stage -Mentor Interaction

The problem statement and overview of data available for the next round will be provided to the shortlisted teams. They will be provided with an opportunity to interact with a mentor from Accenture who would provide the teams with valuable inputs and feedback on consulting skills, client engagement techniques and presentation skills. In this stage reference material, will be provided to the teams to aid in their preparation in the next round.

3rd Stage - Campus Round

The campus round will consist of three time bound stages, aimed at determining, individually and collectively, the various skills required to be successful as a consultant. As a finale the teams will be required to make the proposal presentation to senior Accenture consultants acting as clients.

General Rules

• Each team should have exactly 3 students from the same institute
• Multiple teams from the same institute are allowed to participate
• A student can be part of only one team
• Students shortlisted in the Ensemble ‐ ‘ITC War of Wits’ are not eligible
• No changes are allowed in the team once formed
• Only students of Full Time courses are allowed to participate
• Separate registration is not required , case analysis sent would be considered as registration
• Acknowledgement will be sent within 12 hours of receipt

The students of only the following institutes are eligible to participate in the event
o IIM-A, B, C, L, I, K
o XLRI
o TISS
o SCMHRD
o MDI


Preliminary Round Rules

• The entry should not exceed the space given in the analysis format, including tables/diagrams etc.
• The text should be in Arial, size 11, spacing 1.15
• Each entry should have a cover page with the name of the institute, team name and names of team members with their e‐mails and phone numbers
• The name or logo of the institute should not appear on any other part of the document
• The file should be in .doc or .pdf format and named as: Conundrum_<institute name>_<team name>
• The subject line should be: Conundrum_<institute name>_<team name>
• The entries should be mailed to consultconundrum@accenture.com
• All references should be duly mentioned as foot‐notes. Plagiarism will lead to disqualification
• Assumptions and justifications should be mentioned clearly
• Please follow the timelines given in the next page. NO extensions will be allowed
• Acknowledgement for the entries will be sent after receipt
